Meet MS. Bigelow

Welcome to the 24-25 school year! It is an honor to introduce myself as your new principal at Tafoya Elementary School.

My experience in public education began 15 years ago when I started teaching high school English. I had the pleasure of spending my last three teaching years at Woodland High School, where I also served as English Dept chair and WASC coordinator. Most recently, I served as a Learning Community Director at Pioneer High School, where I focused on creating a safe, supportive, and equitable environment for both staff and students.

On a personal note, I have lived in Woodland for the past 20 years. Both of my children attended WJUSD schools, and they thrived not just academically, but also socially and emotionally, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our excellent educators. It is this firsthand experience that fuels my passion for ensuring that ALL students in our district can learn at high levels and achieve their fullest potential.

I also recognize and deeply appreciate the vital role of a neighborhood school like Tafoya. A school is not just a place of learning; it is a cornerstone of the community, a place where relationships are built, and futures are shaped. I am eager to work closely with Tafoya families and community members to ensure that our school remains a positive and impactful presence in the neighborhood. Your support and involvement are crucial, and I look forward to building strong partnerships with all of you!
